Vickie Kimbrough, RDH, MBA, PhD

Dr. Kimbrough has been in higher education for 22 years in both teaching and administrative roles.  She began as an adjunct instructor for the Taft College dental hygiene program and quickly became founding program director for Shasta College, then moved to Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno Nevada as director.  In 2011 Dr. Kimbrough became director of dental Hygiene at Southwestern College in the San Diego area.  After 6 years she relocated to the Sacramento area to work in association management and grow Purple Pen Courses. In 2017 she returned to Taft College as dental hygiene director.

She has co-authored two textbooks for dental hygiene, one focused on ethics and jurisprudence.   Her extensive teaching and administrative experience stems from health and career technical education in the community college system and her passion is mentoring faculty and students.

Dr. Kimbrough has a degree in biology from CSU Bakersfield, her MBA from the University of Phoenix and a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada (Reno).   She graduated from Cerritos College Dental Hygiene yet her primary interest is higher education administration, leadership, program and student success.   

Leadership roles have included positions with the California Dental Hygienists’ Association, and past Chair of the Allied Health Program Directors for the American Dental Education Association.   In 2011, Dr. Kimbrough was honored with the Irene Newman Award by the American Dental Hygienists Association for her professional achievements.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

Rikky Samoylenko is a graduate of San Diego State University.  He holds a Baccalaureate degree in Art and Art History with emphasis in graphic design.  Rikky has a talent for organization and detail, along with experience in leadership of team projects.  His education has allowed an experience in a variety of opportunities in graphic design, visual creativity, and interpretation of merchandising strategies.


Presenters

Laurie Petralia, RDH, BA

Laurie is a graduate of Idaho State University Pocatello, Idaho.  She has extensive experience in clinical dental hygiene and as a dental hygiene educator.  Laurie has held academic positions with Southwestern College, San Joaquin Valley College and Concorde Career College. She is also a Chief Examiner with the Western Regional Examination Board.  She has taught course content in periodontics, beginning and advanced instrumentation, local anesthesia, nitrous oxide-oxygen analgesia, soft tissue curettage, and dental materials lab.

Laurie comprehends and implements adult learning theories in a variety of methods that enhance the learning experiences of participants in courses and workshops.  She been working with Dr. Kimbrough for several years and with many projects and a valuable asset to the Purple Pen Seminar organization.

Dr. Stacy Eastman, DDS / Dr. Eastman is dental hygiene graduate of Cabrillo College, and received her DDS from University of Southern California. She spent 20 years as an educator and program director for dental hygiene. Now retired from education, she lives and practices in Coalinga, California.
